A British F-35 fighter jet, stranded at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport for approximately 38 days, has departed for the UK. The fifth-generation stealth jet made an emergency landing on June 14 due to low fuel and bad weather while operating from the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales. It was subsequently grounded by a hydraulic failure. British engineers, with support from the Indian Air Force, worked to repair the aircraft. The British High Commission expressed gratitude for the assistance from the Indian Air Force and airport officials, stating the cooperation would strengthen the defence partnership between the two nations. The prolonged stay of the high-tech jet became a point of public curiosity, inspiring numerous memes and even a promotional post by Kerala Tourism on social media.
