The UAE’s Hope Probe has captured stunning images of auroras on Mars, marking a major scientific breakthrough. Using its Emirates Mars Ultraviolet Spectrometer, the probe detected auroras at 103.4 nanometers, a wavelength invisible to the human eye. These auroras are created when charged particles from the Sun interact with Mars’ thin atmosphere, influenced by the planet’s magnetic fields. Scientists believe Mars once had a thick atmosphere and liquid water, but lost it due to its core cooling over time. This discovery provides new insights into Mars’ past and atmospheric dynamics. The UAE plans to release more data from the Hope Probe in September.
