Iran has claimed responsibility for a drone strike on a high-rise building in Dubai, alleging it housed US personnel. Mobile phone footage released by Iran shows what appears to be a Shahed drone hitting the structure, causing a massive explosion and fireball. The visuals, which include chants of ‘Allahu Akbar’ from onlookers, show the moment of impact on the building. Iran has used Shahed drones, considered among its most effective unmanned aerial vehicles, in the alleged attack. The report notes that while Shahed drones have been spotted near Dubai previously, they were typically intercepted. Concerns have been raised about the UAE potentially running out of interceptors to neutralise such threats. The extent of damage and casualties, if any, remains unverified at this stage.
