The Madras High Court has upheld a Rs 1.5 crore penalty on actor-turned-politician Vijay for alleged undisclosed income of Rs 15 crore during 2015-16. The court ruled the Income Tax Department’s notice was issued within the prescribed time limit, allowing the penalty to stand.
