Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar is in Delhi for questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He has been summoned as a witness in the Karur Stampede case, a tragedy that claimed 41 lives. The CBI’s interrogation is expected to focus on several key issues mentioned in the report, including his alleged seven-hour delay to the event, which may have contributed to ‘panic and restlessness among the people’. He will also likely be questioned on why thousands more people attended the event than the 12,000 who were officially expected and whether adequate water supplies were provided to the crowd. Vijay travelled from Chennai to the national capital via a chartered flight, and arrangements have been made for a potential two-day stay.
