TVK chief Vijay appeared at the CBI headquarters in New Delhi for the third time in connection with the Karur stampede case. He was previously questioned on 12th January and 19th January. The CBI summoned him again on 15th March after rejecting his request for a 15-day extension. The probe agency is investigating responsibility for the law and order situation during Vijay’s rally, his delayed arrival at the venue, and lack of basic amenities for crowd management. The stampede on 24th September resulted in 41 deaths. Vijay’s party TVK blames the DMK government and local administration for inadequate security deployment, while the DMK maintains the organizing committee failed to provide necessary arrangements. New evidence has emerged prompting the third round of questioning. Other TVK leaders and DMK leader Sendhil Balaji, summoned for 17th March, are also being questioned in the case.
