TVK Announces Candidates For Tamil Nadu Polls, Actor Vijay To Contest From Perambur And Trichy East
Ahead of the much-anticipated Tamil Nadu polls, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay released his party’s complete slate of candidates for the Assembly polls during a high-security event in Chennai on Sunday.
Emphasizing a "people-first" agenda, Vijay, while announcing the names of candidates from his party, TVK, which is making a debut in this election, urged the people to give them one chance.
"Vote for whistle, it’s a whistle revolution election," he said, playing up his party’s poll symbol.
Actor-politician Vijay will contest the upcoming Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu from the Perambur and Trichy East constituencies. Tamil Nadu’s 234 assembly seats will head to the polls in a single phase on April 23.
The ruling DMK faces a challenging four-way battle: the AIADMK-BJP (NDA) alliance is fighting for a comeback, while Vijay’s TVK is preparing for its high-profile electoral debut. Meanwhile, a fourth front has emerged through an alliance between S. Ramadoss’s PMK and the party led by Sasikala, a close aide of the late J. Jayalalithaa.
