A security officer has earned commendation for saving a woman from being hit by a tram as she stepped onto the tracks in Kayseri, Turkey on Tuesday.
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality surveillance cameras captured the incident.
Surveillance video footage showed the officer, Ayhan Akkis, swiftly pulling the woman, who was wearing headphones, from the path of the oncoming vehicle as she stepped onto the tracks without looking to her left.
Turkish media reports said the woman was trying to cross the tracks to reach the opposite platform.
The officer was awarded a certificate of appreciation for successful execution of duties as well as demonstrating “a great example of responsibility and humanity.”
