Tulsi Gabbard, a friend of India and the first Hindu lawmaker in US Congress, has been appointed by President Trump as the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). As DNI, Gabbard will head the US intelligence community, including 18 agencies such as the CIA. She will provide daily classified briefs to the President and could become the principal advisor to the President and the National Security Council. Gabbard’s appointment could benefit India, given her strong stance against Islamist terrorism and advocacy for strong India-US relations.
