The White House says the ban is aimed at protecting national security, citing difficulties in properly vetting migrants from these nations. But what’s not on the list is raising even more eyebrows. Noticeably absent is Pakistan, a country long accused of harboring U.S.-designated terrorist groups. This comes despite reports from earlier this year suggesting the Trump administration was considering sweeping travel restrictions that would have included Pakistan. During his first term, Trump adopted a tough posture toward Islamabad, criticizing its ties to terrorism. So the question now: what changed, and why the sudden shift?
