Trump-Zelenskyy Oval Office Meet: Peace Push, NATO & Ukraine's Territorial Stance

Donald Trump held a meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin and is now set to meet Ukrainian president Zelenskyy at the Oval Office. Zelenskyy is in Washington D.C. with European leaders. Trump’s objective is for Zelenskyy to reach a peace agreement, stating Ukraine cannot join NATO until the war concludes. The US Secretary of State indicated that both Ukraine and Russia must make concessions for a peace deal. Marco Rubio stated that decisions on territories and territorial claims should rest with Ukraine, warning Russia of consequences if no agreement is reached. The Ukrainian president emphasized, "territorial integrity of the nation is non-negotiable." He noted no Russian indication for a trilateral meeting or security guarantees. Ukraine seeks security guarantees to prevent future invasions and uphold its sovereignty. Negotiations require both sides to make concessions, as surrender is not an option.
