During a cabinet meeting discussing the Iran conflict, US President Donald Trump criticised the renovation of the Federal Reserve building, claiming it could cost approximately 4 billion dollars. He contrasted this with his own construction projects, stating he would have completed the same building for 25 million dollars. Trump defended his renovation work on what was formerly known as the Kennedy Center and a White House ballroom project, stating both are proceeding under budget and ahead of schedule with zero taxpayer dollars, funded entirely by donations. He accused the National Trust for Historic Preservation of suing his projects whilst ignoring the Federal Reserve renovation. Trump also criticised Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, referring to him as ‘too late’ and accusing him of Trump derangement syndrome.
