A historic peace declaration has been signed between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan at the White House, mediated by US President Donald Trump. The accord aims to end decades of conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. A key part of the agreement gives the United States exclusive rights for up to 99 years to develop a new transit corridor across southern Armenia. This route, named the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity,” will connect Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave. Both the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders praised the US President’s role, pledging to jointly nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize. US officials have stated the agreement is a strategic success for Washington, potentially setting back the influence of Russia, Iran, and China in the South Caucasus and opening new economic and security opportunities.
