In Tamil Nadu, functionaries of Vijay’s Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) have been booked by the police in Nagapattinam. A case was registered for the destruction of private property and for not adhering to police-imposed conditions for a rally. The action followed the collapse of a compound wall of a church hall, which gave way due to the number of people standing on it during Vijay’s programme. This incident comes after the Madras High Court directed the police to establish clear guidelines for political rallies. The speaker in the programme stated that Vijay alleged the Chief Minister is imposing conditions to threaten him, saying, "through these conditions the Chief Minister is threatening him and it cannot be done." This is not the first instance of cases being filed against the party for similar violations during their public events.
