Why Is A Tribal Political Activist From Tripura Walking 2500 Km To New Delhi?

Anyone would say it’s an unique act , but for Tripura’s, political activists David Murasingh it’s a fight for justice. David is from Tipra Motha Party founded by Tripura’s Royal scion Pradyot Manikya Debburman . The party is an ally of the BJP and partner to Dr.Manik Saha led govt in the state.

Tipra Motha and more so it’s founder Pradyot Debburman had been asking centre for a safeguard for the indigenous Tiprasa people from illegal immigrants and wants to protect the identity, land, and justice for the people of Tripura, especially the Tiprasa community.

David is carrying a signed memorandum outlining key demands of the community. According to him, “This is not just a march — it’s a movement for the survival of every Tiprasa.”

He further stated that his primary aim in reaching Delhi is to remind the Central Government of its promises and bring national attention to the Tiprasa people. His memorandum highlights three major demands:

1. Greater Tipraland – a long-standing aspiration of the indigenous Tripuri people.

2. Implementation of the Tipra Accord, which was promised to be completed in six months but remains pending even after 18 months.

3. Tackling illegal migration from Bangladesh, which he called “the biggest issue facing not only Tripura but the entire North East.”
