India is set to mark a historic milestone in its space exploration journey as Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla prepares to pilot the Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) to the International Space Station (ISS). Scheduled for launch on June 10, 2025, from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, this mission will make Shukla the first Indian astronaut to visit the ISS and the second Indian in space after Rakesh Sharma’s 1984 mission .
Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, the Indian Air Force’s ace pilot, is all set to launch aboard Axiom Mission 4 to the International Space Station. Originally slated for June 8, the liftoff has been rescheduled to June 10 at 5:52 PM IST, launching from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This mission isn’t just a personal milestone for Shukla; it’s a significant leap for India’s presence in space. He will conduct seven Indian-led experiments in microgravity, including studies on stem cells and crop seed behavior, contributing to India’s growing space science capabilities.
