A private bus was buried in a massive landslide in the Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 people. The incident occurred near the Ballu bridge, where the vehicle was engulfed by mud and rock, trapping several passengers. Rescue operations involving the police, fire department, NDRF, and disaster management authority are underway on a war footing to save those still feared trapped. Three survivors have been rescued and hospitalized. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is personally monitoring the rescue efforts. Prime Minister Modi called the loss of lives "heartbreaking" and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. An official stated, "15 people have lost their lives…three people have been sent to hospital…initial estimates suggest 25 to 30 people were on board."
