Actor Vijay’s party, the Tamil Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has announced its first-ever alliance in Puducherry with a smaller party called Neyam Makkal Kazhagam. The alliance was finalised at the last minute, just hours before nomination, with TVK allotting two constituencies to the smaller party. Earlier, TVK had released a full 30-member candidate list but made changes to accommodate the new alliance partner. The party had initially explored forming an alliance with NR Congress in Puducherry, but those talks did not materialise. NR Congress leader Rangaswamy instead completed an alliance that allocated two seats to LJK. Despite the confusion, TVK reportedly has three strong candidates in Puducherry, including one who was previously with NR Congress. The alliance marks TVK’s entry into coalition politics as it prepares for the polls.
