A political controversy has erupted over an alleged Rs 100 crore loot from the devotee donation hall, known as Parakamani, at the Tirumala temple. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released CCTV footage, dated from 2023, allegedly showing a person named Ravi Kumar stealing cash. The NDA, including the TDP and BJP, accuses the previous YSRCP government, under former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, of facilitating the theft. Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh stated that the looted money was used to invest in real estate. In response, the YSRCP has called the allegations a "political vendetta" and is demanding a CBI inquiry into the matter. This follows previous controversies surrounding the temple, including one related to the ‘laddu prasadam’. The Andhra Pradesh High Court has reportedly transferred the case to the CID for further investigation.
