Palaeontologists in China have discovered rare fossilised footprints belonging to chicken-sized dinosaurs called Minisauripus, offering crucial insights into how dinosaurs evolved into birds. These three-toed prints, found in northwest China and measuring just 1 to 3 cm, date back to the early Cretaceous period. Though not direct bird ancestors, these tiny bipedal creatures are a vital link in the evolutionary chain. The discovery highlights the role of miniaturisation in the transition from dinosaurs to modern birds and deepens our understanding of their incredible diversity.
