The Fake Doctor Scandal: In a shocking turn of events, a fake doctor posing as a renowned cardiologist from London has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh. The man, identified as Narendra Yadav, is accused of conducting at least 15 heart procedures at Mission Hospital in Damoh between December 2024 and February 2025, resulting in the deaths of seven patients. Yadav, who had been working at the hospital for nearly two months, was able to deceive the staff by introducing himself as Dr. N John Kem, a reputed British cardiologist. His fraudulent activities came to light when a sharp rise in patient deaths following his surgeries raised suspicion. A formal investigation was launched in February 2025, and a team from the National Human Rights Commission questioned the hospital staff about Yadav’s involvement. The investigation revealed that Yadav had no medical qualifications and had been practicing medicine illegally. Yadav was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including fraud, impersonation, and causing death by negligence. He is currently in police custody. This is not the first case of a fake doctor operating in India. In a similar incident, a fake doctor was appointed as a medical officer at Jabalpur Medical Hospital. He treated patients for over a year using fraudulent credentials and even received a salary from his employers. The problem of fake doctors in India is widespread and has been a cause for concern for many years. In 2018, the World Health Organization (WHO) claimed that 57% of allopathic doctors in India do not have medical qualifications, a claim that was later refuted by the Indian government.
