This development follows recent Israeli airstrikes on central Damascus, targeting the Ministry of Defence and areas near the presidential palace. Concurrently, the Israeli military has struck southern Syria amid escalating, four-day clashes between Druze groups, Bedouin tribes, and Syrian security forces, which have reportedly claimed over 250 lives in Suwayda province. While Israel, which occupies the Syrian Golan Heights, asserts its operations aim to protect the Druze minority—whom it sees as potential allies—and target pro-government forces, Syria has vehemently rejected this, condemning the attacks as a ‘flagrant assault.
