The Long Form Story: From Manipur To Kashmir, Security Forces Crackdown On Illegal Arms
Security forces seized a large amount of arms during coordinated raids in Manipur’s valley districts. On Saturday, they launched a major pre-dawn operation, recovering illegal arms, ammunition, explosives, and military supplies. This operation is one of the biggest in recent months and represents an important step in the state’s ongoing efforts to dismantle illegal armed groups and restore public order. The raids took place in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur districts. Joint teams from the Manipur Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and Army/Assam Rifles targeted several suspected locations in high-risk areas. Officials confirmed the recovery of various weapons based on specific intelligence. The haul included automatic rifles like AK-series and M16s, INSAS and SLR rifles, pistols, mortars, carbines, and locally made guns. They also seized explosive materials such as IEDs, grenades, and a mortar shell. Additionally, they recovered hundreds of rounds of live ammunition, magazines, and wireless communication devices.
