In Mahindra Drivers of Change 2026, Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, Founder and CEO, IG Defence, and Tarun Wig, CEO & Co-Founder, Innefu Labs, discussed India’s defense technology capabilities. Sanghapriya emphasised that modern warfare has shifted from heavy tanks and costly missiles to low-cost, agile drones and electronic warfare. He revealed that IG Defense established a manufacturing facility producing 500 kamikaze striker drones daily and supplied 5,000 such drones to Indian forces this year. Wig highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in warfare, stating that AI-driven decision support systems now process intelligence in 30 minutes compared to two and a half days during the Kargil war. He warned that deepfake videos and images could influence national mood as soon as the 2029 elections. Both entrepreneurs identified bureaucratic procurement processes as the biggest bottleneck in India’s defense ecosystem, calling for policy reforms to enable rapid deployment of new technologies.
