Global EV manufacturer Tesla has launched its second showroom in Delhi, following its Mumbai debut. The company has rolled out sales of its Model Y SUV, with prices starting at 61 lakh rupees for the RWD variant in Delhi. Tesla plans to install V4 superchargers in Delhi NCR, including locations like Saket, Aerocity, Noida, and Gurugram’s Golf Course Road. These superchargers offer faster charging and longer cables. Tesla requires the Indian market due to a significant 13.5% decline in global vehicle sales in the second quarter of 2025. This decline is attributed to increasing competition from manufacturers like BYD and reputational damage linked to CEO Elon’s public image. India is the world’s third-largest car market, but electric vehicle penetration remains low. Import duties and trade sentiments could impact Tesla’s plans.
