The AIMIM’s support for Congress has stirred controversy, with Asaduddin Owaisi facing criticism for backing Congress here while opposing them elsewhere. Internal rifts within Congress have surfaced, with senior leader Anjan Kumar Yadav and others initially opposing Naveen’s candidacy. Protests from independents—including farmers, youth, and local residents—reflect broader discontent over issues like job promises and infrastructure projects. The bypoll follows the death of sitting BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath, with his wife now contesting on a BRS ticket.
