India’s first Tejas Mark 2 fighter will be rolled out shortly and is expected to make its first flight within months, before being ready for production by 2032, one of several exclusive details revealed in an NDTV National Exclusive. Vishnu Som was granted access to the Tejas manufacturing facility at Hindustan Aeronautics in Bengaluru. Significantly, the Tejas Mark 1A will be armed with the Meteor missile, the same weapon that equips the Rafale. However, the speedy supply of engines from General Electric, a major challenge for HA, remains an issue. At least 12 Tejas Mk1A fighters are fully ready, awaiting their US-built engines.
