Tehsildar has no power to cancel caste certificate: HC

The Karnataka High Court has determined that a tehsildar does not have the authority to cancel a caste certificate. This power lies exclusively with the state caste verification committee. In his ruling, Justice M Nagaprasanna clarified that a tehsildar can either accept or reject an application for a caste certificate. “The tehsildar only implements the direction of the committee,” the judge stated.
