The Mahila Court in Chennai has sentenced the convict in the Anna University sexual assault case to 30 years imprisonment and a fine of ₹90,000. The court found the accused guilty on all 11 counts. The verdict came less than 6 months after the trial began. While the ruling DMK welcomed the verdict, the opposition AIADMK alleged there are unanswered questions about a potential cover-up and involvement of others.
