TVK chief Vijay has condemned the DMK government following the arrest of sanitation workers in Tamil Nadu. The workers were protesting peacefully for their rights against the privatization of conservancy operations in two Chennai zones by the Greater Chennai Corporation. Reports indicate that women sanitation workers fainted and sustained severe injuries during the arrests, which occurred in the dead of the night. The protest had continued for 13 days outside the GCC headquarters. The Madras High Court had directed the Tamil Nadu government to remove the workers, citing hindrance to public movement. Police informed protesters about designated spots, but they refused to move. TVK leader Vijay has called this a fascist move, questioning the government’s actions and the treatment of the protesters.
