In a significant political development ahead of Tamil Nadu polls, sources suggest that O Panneerselvam (OPS), former Chief Minister and veteran AIADMK leader, may join the DMK at 9.30 am today. OPS, who has spent his entire political career opposing the DMK, was expelled from AIADMK by EPS following a leadership tussle. After exiting the NDA alliance, OPS reportedly felt humiliated when Prime Minister Modi did not grant him a meeting during his Tamil Nadu visit, despite OPS writing a letter requesting time. OPS has since held multiple meetings with Chief Minister MK Stalin, including during morning walks and at his office. A loyalist MLA recently stated on the assembly floor that DMK should return to power with Stalin as Chief Minister. The development marks a major setback for AIADMK and the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu, whilst being a crucial addition for the DMK ahead of the elections in the state.
