The DMK released its election manifesto for Tamil Nadu, with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announcing what he termed a ‘superstar manifesto’. The key highlight is an ₹8,000 coupon for women from non-income tax paying families to purchase household items including washing machines, televisions, grinders, refrigerators, mixers, microwave ovens, and electric stoves, or exchange existing items. The Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme will provide ₹2,000 per month to women, with new eligible beneficiaries added annually. Health insurance coverage under the Chief Minister’s scheme has been expanded to ₹10 lakh for families earning up to ₹5 lakh annually. The breakfast scheme for students has been extended to standard eight, covering 15 lakh students. Old age pension has been raised to ₹2,000, and pensions for the disabled increased to ₹2,500. The Pudumai Pen scheme amount for girl students has been raised to ₹1,500. The manifesto promises investments worth ₹18 lakh crore, creating 50 lakh jobs over five years, skill training for five lakh youth with ₹1,000 monthly stipend, and 35 lakh free laptops for college students.
