Tamil Nadu Polls: DMK, AIADMK, TVK Compete With Cash Promises For Women Voters

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is set to unveil the DMK manifesto ahead of state elections, with sources indicating a promise of Rs 2,000 per month for women, up from the current Rs 1,000. The announcement comes as Tamil Nadu’s major parties compete with populist welfare schemes. The AIADMK has also promised Rs 2,000 monthly for women and a fridge for every ration card holder. TVK has offered Rs 2,500 per month for women heads of households and Rs 4,000 monthly for unemployed individuals above 29 years. DMK emphasises its track record of implementing promises, citing the Rs 1,000 monthly scheme for women over seven years and recent Rs 5,000 packages. Stalin tweeted ahead of the event, asking if Tamil Nadu is ready for the headlines, creating anticipation around additional surprise announcements in the manifesto.
