Actor Vijay filed his nomination papers from Trichy East constituency, where he is contesting against DMK candidate Inigo Erodiya Raj. Vijay is also contesting from Perambur against sitting MLA RD Shekhar. Both constituencies are considered DMK strongholds, won by the party with margins exceeding 54,000 votes in 2021. During his campaign, Vijay criticised Chief Minister Stalin and the DMK government over unfulfilled promises, including subsidies on LPG cylinders, extra sugar in ration packs, and other manifesto commitments. He highlighted issues such as lack of basic facilities in government schools, citing the Tashkenti incident, and alleged corruption in the Municipal Administration department involving thousands of crores. Vijay promised a drug-free Tamil Nadu, local employment, free bus travel for women, monthly assistance of 2,500 rupees to women household heads, and filling lakhs of vacant government positions. He accused the DMK of betraying the people of Tamil Nadu with false promises and called for their removal from power.
