Political temperatures are rising in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2026 assembly polls. AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami has begun targeting the DMK’s alliance partners, including the VCK, Left parties, and the Congress. Highlighting alleged instances of mistreatment within the DMK-led front, EPS has extended an open invitation, stating his party will welcome defectors with a "red carpet." He has also hinted that a major party may soon join the AIADMK alliance. Amid this, EPS has firmly stated the AIADMK will form the next government on its own with him as Chief Minister, dismissing any possibility of a power-sharing formula, a clarification on earlier remarks by Union Home Minister Amit Shah about a coalition government. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has retorted, saying voters will bid "goodbye forever" to the opposition leader after the polls.
