Tamil Nadu Custodial Death: TVK's Vijay Seeks Court Directive For Protest Permission | India Today

TVK has filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking a directive to the Tamil Nadu Police to grant permission for a protest against Thiru Bhuvanam’s custodial death. The party initially had permission to protest on 6th July in Sivananda Sala, Chennai, but it was later revoked. This has led to a political showdown, putting pressure on the DMK government. The case gained attention due to video evidence of the custodial torture. TVK leader Vijay had previously met with the family of the deceased Ajit Kumar, offering Rs 2 lakhs as compensation and assuring support. The petition and subsequent protest aim to prevent future custodial deaths and call for increased police accountability.
