At least eight people were killed in an attack on an Alawite mosque in Syria on December 26. Following the incident, Alawite communities staged protests condemning the violence. During the protests, clashes erupted in parts of the region, with at least three people reported killed. Thousands of Alawites were seen thronging the streets as tensions rose.
