Syria: 8 Dead In Homs Mosque Blast; Govt Blames 'Former Regime' Remnants | Middle-East | World News

A deadly explosion struck the Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque in Homs, Syria, on Friday, killing at least eight people and injuring 18 others. The attack targeted the Alawite minority in the Wadi al-Dhahab neighbourhood during Friday prayers. Syria’s Information Minister Hamza al-Mustafa condemned the blast as a ‘desperate attempt’ by remnants of the former Assad regime and ISIS to ‘obstruct the path of the new state’. The explosion, caused by a device planted inside the mosque, left a crater in the wall and scattered debris across the prayer hall.
