Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Syed Nasir Hussain defended the opposition’s no-confidence motion against the Speaker, accusing him of being partial and biased. He stated that ‘the Speaker, who is supposed to be unbiased, who is supposed to be neutral and impartial, has been behaving in a very, very partial way.’ Dr. Hussain cited four reasons for the motion, including the Speaker not allowing the Leader of the Opposition to speak for three to four days continuously, casting aspersions on female opposition members by accusing them of plotting to harm the Prime Minister, suspending eight protesting members, and failing to act against a member who used inappropriate language against two former Prime Ministers. Dr. Hussain argued that the opposition has no choice but to move such motions when their voices are throttled and dissent is not taken fairly. He also confirmed that a no-confidence motion against the Chief Election Commissioner is being planned, asserting that ‘nobody is a Bhagwan in this country’ and everyone is bound by the Constitution.
