The Supreme Court on Tuesday hit out at Christian former Army lieutenant Samuel Kamalesan, who was fired from service for refusing to enter a gurdwara’s sanctum sanctorum to perform a puja. The apex court upheld the Army’s decision, saying he had failed to respect the religious beliefs of his fellow Sikh soldiers. A bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant described Kamalesan as a “cantankerous man” and a “misfit” in the Indian Army.
