The Supreme Court of India is set to hear a series of petitions challenging the Waqf Amendment Act. Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal informed the court about a plea filed by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, which seeks to defer the implementation of the new legislation. Other petitioners include Congress leaders, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, and AAP leader Amanatullah Khan. The Chief Justice of India assured that the matter will be taken up for listing. The petitioners are seeking interim relief and have questioned the constitutionality of the Act, describing it as "destructive to Waqf administration."
