Supreme Court Stays November 20 Aravalli Order; CJI Surya Kant Calls for Expert Panel | India Today

In a significant legal development, the Supreme Court has stayed its own November 20 order regarding the definition of the Aravalli hills. Reporting for India Today, Legal Editor Nalini Sharma and Legal Correspondent Anisha Mathur confirm that the bench, led by CJI Surya Kant, has kept the ‘100-meter height’ norm in abeyance due to concerns over its interpretation. The Court has proposed a ‘high-powered expert committee’ to conduct an independent probe into the ecological impact and clarify mining restrictions. The next hearing is scheduled for January 21.
