The Supreme Court today heard the ongoing stray dog matter following public outrage over an earlier order calling for the blanket removal of strays in Delhi NCR region. A bench heard arguments on pleas seeking an urgent stay on the suo motu order. The court preserved its order on interim relief and stated it would decide whether any stay is necessary. The court pulled up local authorities for failing to enforce existing animal control rules, noting that they frame rules but nothing is happening. The bench cautioned that the entire issue had escalated due to official inaction, adding that while people are suffering, dogs must be treated with dignity. The court directed all individuals or groups making public statements to file affidavits before it. The Solicitor General argued that the issue has two sides: the vocal minority and the silent majority that continues to suffer. #indiatoday #supremecourt #straydogs #delhincr #animalwelfare #publicoutrage #courthearing #animalrights #officialinaction #dogcontrol #animallovers #sterilization #relocation #justice #india
