The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted a raid on a medical college in Tumakuru, reportedly linked to Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara, as part of its investigation into the Rania Rao gold smuggling case. The ED discovered a money trail between Rania Rao and the medical college, raising questions about possible political patronage in the smuggling case involving over 14 kilos of gold. In another case, the ED is investigating the National Herald case, focusing on the shareholding pattern, financial transactions, and the involvement of party functionaries. The case includes the transfer of assets worth over 2000 crore to Young India Limited, a company where Rahul and Sonia Gandhi hold 76% shares. The ED has issued notices to seize immovable assets worth 661 crores in Delhi, Mumbai, and Lucknow, claiming that 140 crores were used as personal proceeds by the Gandhis. A charge sheet has been filed, initiating a trial against Rahul and Sonia Gandhi.
