A life-size statue of Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar was unveiled at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The unveiling followed the inauguration of the Sharad Pawar Cricket Museum, located within the stadium complex. The museum showcases memorabilia from Indian cricket, with a focus on Mumbai’s contribution to the sport. Gavaskar donated two of his caps to the museum, including his ‘lucky’ Dadar Union cap from the Melbourne Test in February 1981. Expressing his feelings on the occasion, Gavaskar said, "I am actually at a loss for words because I’m overwhelmed, overwhelmed by this unique honor." He described the Mumbai Cricket Association as being like a mother to him, having supported him since his school days.
