Donald Trump has told a UK media outlet he is seriously considering pulling America out of the NATO alliance. The American president doubled down on his criticism of the NATO bloc, slamming the United Kingdom and other European partners, telling them to procure oil on their own from the Strait of Hormuz. Trump threatened to no longer help NATO allies in response to their reluctance to support the USA. US officials stated that after the Middle East conflict concludes, America will have to re-examine the value of NATO, questioning whether the alliance has become ‘a one-way street where America is simply in a position to defend Europe’. NATO nations appear to be holding firm, with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer making it clear Britain will not be drawn into the war. Starmer reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s full support for NATO and announced a global conference later this week involving about 35 countries aimed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
