Chief Minister MK Stalin’s recent actions involve a significant outreach to the Muslim community, occurring approximately six to seven months before upcoming elections. An event celebrating the 1500th birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad served as a platform for this engagement. Chief Minister Stalin stated the DMK’s historical support for Muslims during challenges like the CAA and triple talaq issues, contrasting it with the AIADMK’s perceived inconsistency and alleged actions against CAA protesters. A key announcement by the Chief Minister confirmed the inclusion of content related to Prophet Muhammad in the Tamil Nadu education syllabus, following a request from an STPI leader. The Chief Minister affirmed, "We say that Muslims are our people, our Indians, and they have also said that we are Indians. We don’t want to go to Pakistan. Even way back in 1947, those people are living here. This government is against Muslims. BJP government is against Muslims. They have made many statements against Muslims. We say that all are Indians, and all are Indians, be it a Christian, be it a Muslim, be it a Hindu, all are Indians. We are not differentiating them. So when the government of India attacks Muslims, we will protect them." The DMK’s efforts include drawing parallels between the religious leader’s teachings and Dravidian icons, while also criticizing the union government’s amendments to the Vox Amendment Law.
