Politics has erupted over Bengaluru’s crumbling infrastructure, with the BJP launching a statewide protest against the Congress government. BJP leaders were seen filling potholes themselves as a mark of protest. Leader of Opposition R Ashok stated, "This is the first time in the history of Karnataka, in Bangalore, this is the first time highest potholes." Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has set a one-month deadline for repairs, while Deputy CM D.K. Shivkumar has called the protest a conspiracy. The civic crisis is also highlighted by businessperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw’s comments on garbage turning the city "filthy". Further reports include the Karnataka government banning foreign travel for officials until March 2026. In Kerala, customs seized 36 smuggled luxury vehicles, with two belonging to actor Dulquer Salmaan. In Tamil Nadu, the prestigious Kalaimamani awards were conferred on artists including Anirudh Ravichandar and Sai Pallavi.
