Sonam Wangchuk Arrested: Leh Locked Down, Internet Shut Off After Protests Turn Violent

Activist Sonam Wangchuk has been arrested in Leh, prompting authorities to suspend mobile internet services and slow down broadband speeds to maintain law and order. The arrest follows recent protests demanding statehood for Ladakh and its inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, during which four people died and 90 others were injured. The Centre has blamed Wangchuk for the violence, and the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has cancelled the FCRA license of his NGO. Wangchuk has stated he is being made a "scapegoat" and told his followers not to worry about his arrest.
