General Secretary of the Communist Party of India and former Rajya Sabha member Sitaram Yechury passed away on 12 September, 2024 in New Delhi’s AIIMS. He is survived by his wife and two children. Apart from being an ardent Marxist, Sitaram Yechury had friends across party lines. He has been active in Indian politics for decades, despite his party’s declining stature in the last few years.
